Aurora Borealis
One of the great things about Iceland in winter is the possibility of seeing the Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights. The lights weren’t my main reason to go there, but of course I hoped to see some. And I was very lucky to do so.
Our guide took us somewhere out in the dark and then we waited. And waited. And waited. To pass the time and get warm, Yana jumped up and down in front of my camera with a flashlight. And then we waited again. And that’s what I really like about the Northern Lights. You can check the forecast and see a tendency whether there is aurora acitivity or not, but you aren’t certain. And all of a sudden nature becomes this really exciting thing, where a bunch of grown-ups stares into the sky and jumps around and screams as soon as the faintest glow of green is visible.
